QUICK TIPS FOR STRESS-FREE LIVING
(Courtesy of The Ladies’ Home Journal)
BRAINy tips to minimize stress:
Breathe
As soon as you start to feel stressed, take several deep breaths. It’ll
give you a brief time-out and keep you from acting impulsively.
Relax
While you breathe, repeat to yourself the word “relax” or
another mantra…this helps reduce muscle tension and fatigue.
Ask, “How would I rather
be feeling?”
A positive question like this evokes calm, serene answers. These feelings
often become reality—we are what we think.
Imagine feeling…
Calm, powerful, content, in control…and remember a time when you
felt that way. Your body will respond to those memories as though they’re
happening now!
Notice the change
If you have done these simple thought exercises, you’ll have turned
a difficult situation into a soothing one, and your calmer feeling will
be it’s own reward!
